Michael Cheung

Michael’s strength in architecture lies in research as that is important to inform design decisions and to contextualize the architecture to make it unique and fit the site.

One of the main reasons he joined DS10 is due to the brief focusing on sustainability. Each member is deeply concerned about the environmental impacts that is caused in architecture and therefore focusing on the exploration of wood as a building material and investigating how to manipulate its properties to promote sustainable design. He is specifically looking into the bending of wood and combining it with weaving to create modules where he can adjust certain parameters and change the modules to the criteria that is required in each context.
